To internationalize Kaohsiung County and meet the future trend needs, 4 main English villages and 20 more theme English villages are established in Gongshan, Cishan, and Fongshan area. Hopefully, by creative English teaching methods, we can provide natural English learning environment for the children and in advance to open up an opportunity for English education in English village. Besides, we strongly suggest every school make good use of Internet resources to connect to the world and furthermore plan exchange programs with foreign schools. In advance, through English village program, we hope that our efforts to improve bilingual learning environment in Kaohsiung County, to share features of English teaching, and to provide better English teaching materials to all schools can be seen and achieved.
Starting from the local culture, the aim of establishing English village is to make the children know more about not only our own land but also different foreign cultures. Only through cultural learning and linking to the world can make us understand cultural difference, and appreciate our own culture more. Kaohsiung County has constantly encouraged the schools to develop better English education. Our English education policies have continued to develop better and better on the good base of English teaching. The step to set up English villages, we believe, inspires English education and founds a base to connect to the world. We would like to build a competitive environment for our children. It is not easy, but is the goal we strive for. Thus, for the sustainable operation of English villages, we need support and help from all the education fellows.
高雄縣為促進國際化，遠瞻未來趨勢的需求，以及各界的期盼，計畫分三區設置縣級英語村及主題式英語村，創新英語學習方法，以營造「自然開口說英語」的融入式教學，為英語村教學開啟創新契機。除了英語村外，各校可運用e化網路系統與國際接軌、締結姐妹學校(國外學校)，並運用各項資源強化雙語環境建置英語教學特色分享及提供各級學校優良英語教材。
英語村設置目的係從在地文化出發，不僅透過語言認識鄉土，也可瞭解外國文化；也唯有透過文化的學習與國際的接軌，才能讓身處不同文化背景的我們能體認文化的差異性，更珍惜自己的在地文化。高雄縣一直致力推動英語教育。本縣英語教育推動策略，正延續著英語教學的成果，透過建置英語村，這一股活水的注入，活絡了英語教育，也奠定與國際接軌的基礎，更為孩子打造一個培育未來競爭力的環境。它是一條艱辛的路，但卻是我們前進的方向，為了英語村的永續經營，請教育夥伴們給予支持與協助。
